Everything came together at last.
Got 10 rounds of .348 reformed, loaded them with 65g of FFg and a lubed wad and topped it off with a bullet (457122 - I've got the 457192 mold but I have 50 457122 hollowpoints sitting here so I used them). I loaded a couple with the brass trimmed short enough to allow the loaded cartridge to be just over 2.25, the rest I left long expecting the fireforming to shorten them a bit (it did).
I went to the range intending to see if everything cycled all right and to fire form the brass. I didn't expect any problems in that regard as I had tested the action with 4 original 45/75 rounds I have and the action worked perfectly with those rounds. I have no intention of firing those, a couple of them seem to be quite old and the other two look like reloads of indeterminate age. The two shorter rounds cycled and fired flawlessly.
The longer ones had to fed singly - but that is no surprise.
But after letting loose and having things come together I decided to see if I could get a group at 50 yds.
Now I'm really looking forward to seeing what I get when I'm shooting fully formed cases and the 457192.s ! ! !
A Happy Icebox Bob.
