trail boss,

Where are you located?  I have approx 3000 pounds of lead that is cast into ingots that is available for $0.50 per pound.  This is a mixture or range lead with some tin added.  I don't know the exact alloy as I acquired it from an estate but it has BHN of approx 11.  The ingots are +/- 12 pounds each and the price is for the buyer to pick it up in Napa, CA.  The buyer can buy as much or as little as they like.

If you are interested you can contact me at wrheller@sbcglobal.net.

Howdy Trail Boss

I use lymans 452664. Its roughfly 250 grains.   I use in my my old model rugers 5 1/4" barrels and my uberty 73 24" barrel.  I haven't had any problems with it what so ever.   I like it because of the large lube groove.     I use lymans alox sized to 452 behind 5.8 grains titegroup.

Not exactly sure what my alloy is.     something like 2 parts soft lead and 1 part lynotype.   I got lucky on the lynotype as I had a buddy from high school years and years ago converted his Dads printshop into a kinko's copy center.  My lynotype is juat about used up.

Iff'n you look on e-bay you can find some lynotype, but be careful, no telling just what all the "extra" stuff you'll get with it.

I picked up one of the sako's lead hardness testers a while back.   Though not calibrated to the brinelle scale.   it goes from 1 to 10 with 10 being about what lynotype is.    My lead is cast at about 6 to7.

Good luck
