Winchester 92 in .38 WCF
« on: April 24, 2008, 11:37:59 PM »
My cousin was given a Winchester 1892 model in 38-40 over 20 years ago which he no longer wishes to keep.  It was re-blued by the factory some 40 years ago, but retains a good bore with no cracks or repairs to the stock.  There is some kind of carving in the stock though, like someone's initials, but not too deep.  Date of manufacture is 1895.

What would be a decent asking price for this rifle?  We know it's not a collector item due to the re-bluing, but it is a shooter.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Honestly,  Your best bet is to try one of the online sites.  Here are a few for your viewing pleasure.  I can tell you that a 38WCF will probably not bring quite as much money as a 44WCF would, all other things being equal.  There is also a forum on Gunbroker.com that you can join for free and ask some experts.   Be prepared to post pictures though and give as much information about the gun as possible.  Regards.  Deadeye.
