Wild and maybe not so crazy Idea
« on: April 08, 2008, 05:41:22 PM »
Seems I can FLY to Witcha, KS for $49 one way that's $99 round trip...
now with the cost of Gas it would cost the same in Fuel to drive to Lake City ,Florida for their shoot IF they were NCOWS, which they are not ....

So my "Wild and maybe not so crazy Idea is "WHAT IF" I came out in May ?????

Who is shooting ? what weekend ? , and most important would you have me  :-\ ?

the Flight is Wed or Fridays ..so I fly out on Friday return on Wed....

Crazy HUH !  ::)

Major, the Kansas Vigilance Committee holds their annual 2 Gun shoot the first weekend of May at their range in Garnett, Kansas. I'm pretty sure they would welcome you.

Major:

Can't help you with Wichita, but the Great Lakes Freight & Mining Co. will have it's May shoot on the 11th. It's held in Modoc, IN, which is southeast of Muncie or pretty much east of New Castle.

If an Indy trip is a possible alternative, we'd be happy to have you join us.

Here is the rest of the story.... you see my very very good friend (non- CAS ) found these prices on line.. he is from Kansas.
Dennis has been diagnosed with Lymphoma, he is about to under go ( they still have to determine type) therapy (I.E Chemo).
He is looking to go home to visit his elderly Mom & Dad & his Brother, before he starts the regiment.
Dennis is 56 and I'm quite sure is thinking the worst right now, though I try to keep him laughing and up beat.

Now, I was thinking of accompanying him, but not infringe on his quality time with his folks.
We both work at show biz together and are dark (no shows) in mid May... his wife ( a School teacher can't go at that time )

Now maybe if the prices are holding to those listed later his summer , when I have no shows scheduled  I could , but I doubt it ..with summer vacation season pricing in full swing....

I understand about your friend and wanting to go to Kansas, but in addition to Daves offer,  the Scarlet Mask Vigilance Society shoots on May 24 (Saturday) in Martinsville, Indiana,  and you would be very welcome to join us.

Pards ...reality has reared it's ugly head

both logistics & time constraints have conspired to dash my plans....

My thanks to the gracious invitations, especially Dr. Bob.

Perhaps someday I can make the Trek to the heart of NCOWS shooting, it sadly won't be in May  :-[
