My bride is lookin' for a Christmas present for my shootn' pard and Son in Law.  She wants to get him a bandana bolo.  The onlyiist things she's found are over $150 and under $15 (junk).  So, does anybody know where a nice bolo can be had for less than an arm and a leg?  Maybe just a leg?

I thought a bolo was some kind of weapon or lasso used in South America.  Ya learnt somefine new all da time.

'Cowboy' collectables are surfacing all the time - and many can be found at antique shops.

They enjoyed a wide popularity in the late '40's and early '50's when the movies and television were rife wiith their celluloid adventures.

Coincidentally - it was also a time of popularity for the Bolo Tie.

She can find slides shaped like saddles, boots, hats, etc., made of different materials, and many in sterling silver.

I've seen a number of these things - none over $50 - most in the $30 range - and in sterling silver, to boot.

Good Luck.

Yes you do, it's on the finger next to the pinky on yer left hand. ;)  BTW a gold ring from a pawn shop makes a good scarf slide. ;)

Now I recall.  In Boy Scouts, so many years ago, we used to secure our neckerchiefs with a WOGGLE.

Thanks ya all.

Yup, I'm lookin' for a scarf slide.  Don't use 'em myownself, bein' a Riverboat Gambler and all, but I'd like to get a scarf slide for my Son in Law for Christmas.

I'd like something in metal with maybe some turquoise decoration.

Thanks,

DD-DLoS

P.S.  I've been a mite under the weather and haven't paid enuf attention to the mails.  Please pardon.

If you think about it, this becomes quite funny.

You're looking to "BOLO" a bolo!  ;D

Well on second thought, you might not see the humor in it.  ???

Humor well taken.  I just didn't have the proper nomenclature.  Riverboat Gamblers don't wear that kind of neckware.  We're more into a properly tied silk ascot.  Not fuschia.

Anyway, this thread has taken me places where I'd never have gone.  Now I know where to fine a proper Scarf Slide and about how much it ought to cost.

Next time I'm out west, say New Mexico, I'll paw around where artists are still pounding stuff out of silver and turquoise.  They deserve every nickel they get.
