Does anyone know if anyon e going to Winter Range this year does work on the '87? Not looking for the drop-two or super-slick up job - just a fine-tune of parts from what the factory turned out.

Coyote Cap knows these guns better than anyone. He can do anything you want with one. I would probably go with the $200 action job, though, since having a little done will cost as much and Cap will set it up for hunting instead of CAS if that's what you want. It will be as good as it can be.

Unless the gun won't feed, fire and eject shell's correctly, there is really not much to smooth-up or improve on the 1887. Course, if it's not feeding/firing/ejecting, it does need some wortk  ;)
For CAS you might be interested in the "feed-two" modification since this leaves the gun's magazine fully functional. Chek Cap's website for a complete list of problems and fixes. To get mine working well, it only needed clipping a couple coils off of each extractor spring and  a bit of light polishing on the extractor surfaces.

BTW, the 1887 will hold 7 rounds. Nice to go hunting and carry lots of shells in the gun, rather than my pocket. I suppose this is why the gun was popular with Lawmen, guards, etc. A number of "varmints" have already met their demise with the one in my hands.
