Just want to take this time to thank all of the members that came out and helped make this a success. It started out a little foggy at the range this morning. As the fog lifted, the first wagons carrying the early arrivals came into site over the horizon. They came from every corner of the tristate region. They arrived by ones, twos and then in groups. As Texas Jack Stephens called up the cur dogs to start the hunt, everyone was checking and re checking their gear. Then out of no where there was heard the treeing bark of the hounds and everyone went, in posses, to start the hunt. For awhile, there was considerable gun fire going on, but then as the smoke cleared and quiet returned, there were no more bear seen in the area, other than those that been vanquished..........
No really, we had a great time shooting and hassaling each other, Texas Jack told about the dog he had trained to shine its own light while coon hunting. Sorry to say the heroic canine lost its life while he was attempting to teach it to not only spotlight the coon, but also shoot it out on his own. He says he sure does miss that dog.
P.S.
To all: There were no animals hurt in this tall-tale event.
