Moratorium on SASS Categories

Is it time to put a moratorium on categories? With the addition of Silver Senior we now have 30 categories. Mule Camp should have 32 this year with the Blackpowder Classic Cowboy. How long is it before there is a seperate category for every single person shooting? 



Maybe as we add new ones we need to re-examine some of the existing one.

Where does it stop ? It's like the discussion that's on CAS about Power Factor.when I started CAS shooting we had the 650 p/f rule and I started about ten years ago in  Modern category with a pair of blackhawkes like so many did, the loads I worked up suited both handguns and rifle (I shot 38's ) and still use the same load today. I now shoot in Seniors like many of the people that I started with. Categorys are something you have to shoot in when entering a big shoot,at our club shoot days we just shoot as a group and the best and fastesr shooter will win the day It does not matter we are all doing what we want.Thats shooting and having a lot of fun

Hey how about a catagory for silver seniors soutpaws shooting black powder wearing pirate patches over their right eye!

I agree.  It amazes me that we have so many categories to do exactly yhe same thing.  Most shooters end up in Traditional, 49er or senior.  they split Senior and now the other two have large groups.  Do you split Trad and 49er .  No that makes even more categories.  Get rid of Modern as it and traditional are the same.  Split the 49 at to 18-40 and 41-60 and be done with it.

To be honest, there are a few category concepts I'd like to see brought to fruition.  What I think would be a better idea is a complete restructuring of the categories that we have.
