Spencer Carbine in 44-40 SPF
« on: May 08, 2013, 02:38:01 PM »

I have a NIB Armisport Spencer Carbine for sale.  The case coloring is beautiful and the bore is bright and shinny and has never seen a bullet.  Comes with a hard case and all the paper work.
All the blueing is in perfect shape.  I can send additional pictures on request, just e-mail me.  I am selling it at the bargain price of only $1450. + Shipping.  FFL required.
If you want to use it for reenacting you can go to this web page and read my article about how I use mine and how to make economical blanks for it.

I could be wrong about this but I think that Armisport first came out with the Spencer in 44 Russian and 45 Schofield.  They both had the double paddle extractor system.  This extractor system proved to be very unreliable and when they came out with the one in 56-50 they changed to the Lane extractor which solved all there extractor problems.  Latter they came out with them in 44-40 and 45 Long Colt which also had the Lane extractor and discontinued the 44 Russian and 45 Schofield.  For a long time only the 56-50 and the 45 LC were available in the US.  They have finely started sending the 44-40 version to the US again.
The 44-40 cartridge is arguably more accurate than the 45 LC and the 44-40 version lends itself to blanks better than any of the other calibers.  Just my take on it, YMMV.

Just returned from the range with my new Spencer. Very accurate carbine. Functionality is good considering it is brand new. I am confident that with some more use, it will become very smooth. Extraction was positive and is better with vigorous strokes of the lever. Trigger pull a bit heavy but that is to be expected in a new firearm, did not impact the accuracy that I could see. The fit and finish is very good, couldnt be happier.

Terry was exemplary in his service, I would not hesitate to purchase something from him at anytime.

interested in trades?? I have all kinds of toys to play with (and yes, I have a 01 FFL) I did pick up a spencer in .44 Russian and someone blew up the barrel(chamber, it blew out the bottom of the chamber. but I'm shooting a spencer in .45 schofield and just learned about have having the total length of the case just right. now mines working just fine. i"m really looking for a 56-50 to play with but I'd be interested in a .44-40 also.(yes, I reload and pour bullets for all of them)  I'm also shooting a pedersoli "lighting" in .44-40 and it's quite accurate.
with trades I can go "old" ubertis or new "N" frame smiths in any caliber.  or we can talk about it.

Major,

Did you get the emails I sent you this afternoon?

When I saw "SPF", I thought maybe I was the buyer, but now it appears I missed this rifle and it has been sold to someone else.

 Please advise.

Thanks
