I copied this pattern from one in Packing Iron. Now I want to make me a money belt like the one on the cover with the lace closure instead of stitching to go with them.

I love the incised holsters in PI. I wish there were more patterns of them available.

Hi Slim,
I like the holster very much.  For the incised pattern.......what did you use, a gouge or a groover of some type?  What size?

Does the holster have a toe plug or is it open?  It looks like there might be one stitched in down there, but I can't tell.

I have not seen too many leatherworked items using an incised method to impart design.  It looks unique.  I also like the way the holster is cut for the gun up at the top and, I like the nicely-done wet-forming of the gun to the holster.  Very nice.

I ordered a copy of Packing Iron, but I think they shipped it around the Horn or something; it's taking forever to get here...I love that book.

Thanks for showing your work; I hope you don't mind....I saved a copy of the picture of your holster to my leather work photo gallery.

Very nice Slim! Looks right out of the pages of "Packing Iron"
You need to learn to like all the little everday things like a sip of good whiskey, a soft bed, a glass of buttermilk,  and a feisty old gentleman like myself

I used a hand held stitching groover. I did not put in a toe plug on this one, just stitched it most of the way around. If I had done a plug I may have never got it done!

The color is my own mix. Take a 32 oz bottle of Eco-Flo Briar Brown and dump in a 4 oz bottle of Mahogany.
