Found this interesting, for me, Henry Rifle.
Captain Luther Sage "Yellowstone" Kelly's Henry Famous Indian Fighter, SN-3598, military range.
Inscribed:  ' Comp.G-10th Infantry-Fort Berthold-1968

I know that Kelly was in Comp.G 10th Infantry, but he was a Private.
That is the second Henry rifle that Kelly owns, SN.6850

;)

Knows anyone more about the Henry rifle, SN 3598?
;)

How long do you think it would take to go from private to captain in the post war army?  How many Winchesters could a soldier afford?   ???

I think it was impossible for a private to become a captain in the regular army.

Kelly enlisted in March 1865 for three years in 10th Infrantry.
He served as a captain of volunteers in the Philippines.

does anyone have any more info on Kelly's Henry rifle SN-3598?  In his memoirs he always refers to using a carbine.

Sorry, i have no other information about THIS Henry Rifle.

You might find it interesting, if you read my post on page 2 of the topic "Is this a Henry or not"?

Adios,

I just noticed that the "Yellowstone Kelly carbine" has been taken off of the "rare winchester' site.  As anyone have any info about that?

Well, it (the Kelly rifle) was in a private collection.  Could be an offer was made the feller couldn't refuse???
