[Two Flints]

Hello SSS,

Appearing below are two Civil War Insignias attributed to General James H. Wilson's Cavalry Corps.  One of these insignias is currently on sale on Ebay - described as an accurate reproduction of the Wilson cavalry corps insignia.  The other insignia is on display at Arlington National Cemetary and is described as a "Very rare "Wilson's Cavalry" gold badge, named to General Wirt Davis" who served as an officer during the Civil War and the Indian Wars.

My question to you, do you see a difference in the insignias?  Are they both Sharps?  Are they both Spencers? or which one is a Sharps and which one is a Spencer?  Can you see a difference in the two carbines?  Let me know, please.

# 1 is  blurry ...could be a Spencer  ...also looks a tad 4th model Burnside-ish ( a bit fat though  )

the cross Sabers are different as well ( different shape Basket guards )

#1 i think it's a Spencer.Take a closer look at the 'nose'.

#2 rifle is noticeably shorter than #1.

Looks to me like #2 is a Sharps for sure and #1 is maybe a Spencer.

No 1 - looks like a Spencer and although I tihnk it is one I would not bet on it.

No2 - Now I would be quite happy to bet on it being a Sharps and I'm not the betting sort unless I know for sure that I am going to win!

#2 - is a Smith
#3 - A Palmer (I think)
#4 - is a Burnsides
#5 - is of course a Spencer
#6 - No Clue
#7 - is either a Merrill or a Jenks (I think)
