Hoof Hearted

This is kinda a show and tell ;D

I have been building some Remington conversions and needed a break so I decided to remove all of the Italian markings from the barrel, install a higher sight, and polish the machining marks off of the Kirst cylinder and back plate.

Then I figured it needed 31 stamped on the trigger guard with a "2" overstamp on the "1" and a silver plate job.

Of course stipping and refinishing the grips was also in order!

In a previous life I built IPSC pistols :P
This kinda stuff is so much more fun!

I have offered and it seems like I keep scaring the folks here on this site off :-\
Is someone wanted this exact treatment (including triggerjob and working out the kinks with timing the Kirst) it would run about $200.00 plus the pistol, conversion, and sight. I have about 10 or so hours in this one.

Seth, I noticed your previous post regarding case hardening and I need to call Walt on another matter so I'll talk to him. I never considered the Kirst to be a "factory" conversion more of a "gunsmith" one so I haven't let it bother me. There are so many other "non-factory" things about it that I just go with what Walt supplies ;D

In the future, I just may have to take you up on the offer to work on some pistolas.  I just might try to do up a '58 Remington like Bar. did and would rather someone with skill put on a tall front site dove-tailed into the barrel.  Also, perhaps convert a .36 Remington or '51 Navy.

Tommy

You have been a gentleman and treated me very fairly in our dealings! I would be glad to help you in any way I can and return a "few" of the favors I owe you ;) I will be down your way (Katy) a couple of times this year and I'll contact you and bring some work for you to see............

Regards
Gary

Hoof,
What did you use to remove the Italian markings on the barrel?  I am about to chop a '58 Remington and want to remove the Pietta and all the proofs off of it.  Still trying to decide if I want to leave it in the white or brown it.

Man, thats sweet. I'd love a cartridge OT pocket pistol like that.

I think I already know the answer but I'll ask to be sure, can enough bp be stuffed in the case to make these SASS main match legal on smoke requirements?  I am thinking around 15grains may be about the minimum.

Long Juan

I can vouch for HH's work.  He has done more than one pistola for me and I have been very happy with the result, the price and the quality.  Highly recommend him to anyone who has any interest in a conversion or whatever.
