Thanks guys.

Tell me about point of aim. With the Colts and the distance we shoot, I really don't "draw a bead" on the target. With cylinder and barrel all being about the same height I usually just site down the barrel to the target (is that understandable?).

How does the Remington compare?

Thanks again

P.S.

You're right about changing the nips. I've put Treso's on my Colts. When I change the nips on the Remington's will I still use the Remington #10 caps or will that change?

When i ordered my Treso nipples from Thunderridge for my remmie ..I told them i only used remington # 10 caps and they sent me a set that works great ...i never have to pinch a cap .

dutchman,

What I've found is the Tresos seem to be made for Remington #10's.  When I have ordered Treso's I have never specified what size caps I use and have had no problems.  Remington # 10's always fit them.  So you should be good to go.

Here's what I do to test the aim. I look at a point on the wall or such, close my eyes, point the pistol then open them and take a look to see if I am, in fact, pointing at my target. Without exception, I am pointing considerably above the point with a Colt. With a Remington, the pistol is always pointed at the target. What that means is, I can acquire the target with the front sight on a Remmie and don't even need to look at the rear. Metal on the target, pull the trigger. Bangding. With a Colt, I have to adjust the aim by cocking my wrist, then I can put the front sight on the target and shoot. If you're point shooting, you can do it much faster. Even if you cock your wrist while bringing the pistol up, it does make a difference. I will admit that the open top Colts are better than the Peacemaker, but the Remington is way better in my hand. Everyone is different, but that's how I chose the pistols I use. For you, a Colt or Schofield may be the best pointing pistol. My times shaved off some when I changed from my Colts to my Remingtons.
